Paolo Tramezzani was born in Italy, and currently serves as the coach of NK Istra 1961. His illustrious career spans various roles in the football world. Before taking over Istra, he managed numerous clubs across Europe and the world, starting from FC Sion, then AI-Faisaly FC in Saudi Arabia, to the Croatian giant, Hajduk Split. He showcased his coaching prowess at clubs like Livorno, APOEL, and Lugano. However, before stepping into coaching, Paolo had a successful playing career. After retiring in 2008 with Pro Patria, let’s recall his brilliance on the field donning jerseys for clubs like Atalanta, Piacenza, and even the renowned Inter Milan. His experience isn’t confined to Italian clubs; he also tasted the allure of international football, playing for English side Tottenham and going on loans across Italy. Ultimately, what truly stands out in his career are the successes he achieved as a coach, owing to his expertise and leadership. With Lugano, he secured a third-place finish in the Swiss Super League, lifting the club from the bottom of the table to direct qualification for the UEFA Europa League. Additionally, he played a crucial role in the Albanian national team as an assistant coach during the UEFA EURO 2016 qualifiers, contributing to the historic success of both country and club, for which he was awarded Albanian honorary citizenship. Paolo not only brought success to clubs on the field but was also called upon to rescue some from poor performances. His return to FC Sion for the third time was a testament to his ability to turn things around, guiding the club to set objectives and avoiding relegation. Furthermore, his knack for bringing about positive changes in the clubs he took over was evident at HNK Hajduk, where he managed to lead the team to Europa League qualifications in a relatively short period. Considering all of this, it’s clear that Paolo has not only left his mark as a player and coach but has also made an indelible impact on the world of football with his talent and dedication.
