Mato Njavro

Dean of Zagreb School of Economics and Management, Croatia

Mato Njavro is the Dean of the Zagreb School of Economics and Management (ZŠEM), where he teaches finance courses. Dr. Njavro is also a professor at the Luxembourg School of Business and a lecturer at the University of St. Gallen and Singapore Management University, where he teaches a course on the Chinese Economy. He completed his undergraduate and graduate studies in economics and finance at Bocconi University in Milan, and he earned his PhD in finance from the University of St. Gallen in Switzerland. He worked as a postdoctoral fellow at Harvard University, and from 2016 to 2020, he resided in Singapore, working at the Institute of Management at the University of St. Gallen in Asia and Singapore Management University. Before earning his PhD, he gained valuable work experience in London, working in the investment banking sector for Lehman Brothers and Nomura.

Dr. Njavro’s research interests are focused on financial markets, public policy, and economic development. He is the author and co-author of several academic papers and studies, including a Harvard Business School case study titled “Atlantic Grupa,” which examines one of the largest M&A transactions in the CEE region. He is also the founder and academic director of the New Europe Business Forum. Additionally, he collaborated with Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović while she served as an advisor for international relations and cooperation at ZŠEM.
