Guillem Balague rose to prominence at Sky Sports, where he spent over 20 years as a key figure in their coverage of La Liga, appearing regularly on Sky Sports News and the TV show "Revista de La Liga."

He garnered a significant following on social media, amassing over 1 million Twitter followers as the face of LaLiga TV’s official coverage. Additionally, he hosts his own YouTube channel, podcast, and delivers journalism masterclasses at UCFB University in Wembley and the Etihad Stadium. Balague authored several acclaimed books, including “A Season on the Brink,” detailing Liverpool’s 2004-05 Champions League triumph, and the first international biography of Pep Guardiola. He also wrote the authorized biography of Lionel Messi and released updates covering Messi’s career milestones. His work extends beyond football literature, having penned the Official History of FC Barcelona and biographies on Cristiano Ronaldo and Mauricio Pochettino. His book on Maradona garnered international attention, becoming a bestseller in Argentina and receiving nominations for book awards in the UK and Spain. Throughout his career, Balague contributed to numerous publications and media outlets globally, conducting interviews with a plethora of football icons. His journey began with freelance work in Liverpool after completing a journalism degree in Barcelona. His breakthrough came in 1996 when he became the English Football Correspondent for Don Balón magazine, later securing a role with Sky Sports. Balague’s insights have led to breaking major transfer news and earning him a reputation as an authoritative figure in football journalism. Outside of football, Balague is actively involved in music, having written songs with two bands, Best Boy Grip and King and Scholes, and released EPs in 2014. He also serves as chairman of Biggleswade United, a passion project showcasing his love for grassroots football.
