For over 20 years, Chris Barnes has led multidisciplinary performance teams at the elite level across various sports. In 1997, he became the first full-time Sports Scientist in the English Premier League, establishing Middlesbrough FC as a pioneer in the field. Through his consultancy, CB Sports Performance Ltd, he continues to support elite soccer in the UK and Europe, alongside advisory roles with Catapult Sports, Nike, and Red Bull. Chris works closely with UEFA and CAF to deliver performance staff education and is a strong advocate of athlete tracking technologies and individualized training. He is a Visiting Fellow at Staffordshire University, an Executive Committee member of the Football Medical Association (FMedA), and serves on the Accreditation Committee of BASES.
